Matthew Playfair
Get to know Matthew
Matthew spent 10 years with Potter Warburg/UBS in investment banking, private banking, equity and derivative sales. He was recruited to Macquarie Private Bank in 2002. As the senior partner, Matthew was responsible for clients, setting standards and establishing best practices for advising clients. He was a member of the investment committee throughout, acting at different times as its chairman, head of the equity asset class and asset allocation.
He is a champion for transparency, independence, confidentiality and accountability in the management of clients’ private financial affairs.
Matthew has undergraduate degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Sydney and a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge. He has worked in London, Perth and Sydney in the legal, corporate and finance industries. Matthew has been a board member or head of a handful of not-for-profit and charitable organisations over the years.
His wife Fiona and their two sons are cheerleaders for PlayfairTan.
